Residential Sewer Liner Repair on Long Island

Drain and sewer pipes left in disrepair could cause flooding and groundwater contamination, representing a serious environmental hazard. As full service commercial plumbers, CityWide can repair or replace water and sewer pipes to correct a number of problems.

Call your CityWide plumber for:

  • Broken, cracked, offset or collapsed pipes – damaged pipes due to shifting soil, frozen ground, settling, etc.
  • Blockage – grease buildup or a foreign object is restricting or prohibiting proper flow and/or cleaning of the line.
  • Corrosion – the pipe has deteriorated and/or broken, causing sections of the pipe to collapse and restrict flow.
  • Leaking joints – the seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe.
  • Bellied pipe – a section of the pipe has sunk due to ground or soil conditions, creating a valley that collects paper and waste.
  • Leaking joints – the seals between pipes have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe.
  • Root infiltration – tree or shrub roots have invaded the sewer line, preventing normal cleaning and/or roots have damaged the pipe.
  • Off-grade pipe – existing pipes are constructed of substandard or outdated material that may have deteriorated or corroded.

Relining

CityWide utilizes pipe relining techniques for the repair of sewer lines. Relining is the process of repairing damaged sewer pipes by creating a “pipe within a pipe” to restore function and flow. Epoxy relining materials mold to the inside of the existing pipe to create a smooth new inner wall.

Pipe relining can be performed through a building’s clean-out access and often requires little digging. Pipe relining is used to repair root-damaged pipes, seal cracks and holes, fill in missing pipe and seal joint connections underground, in roof drain pipes, in storm lines and under concrete. The relined pipe is seamless and durable, and all materials used in the relining process are non-hazardous.

Trenchless Repair

For decades, the only way to replace or repair broken sewer lines was to dig a deep trench (usually four to six feet underground) to expose the entire length of the pipeline. The old pipe had to be pulled up and discarded and lengths of new pipe had to be carefully laid in place and fused together.

CityWide utilizes "Trenchless" repair methods. Trenchless methods require little digging and fixes pipes from the inside resulting in less environmental impact. We use a Pipe Bursting system to replace pipe sections or an Epoxy Relining system to repair pipe sections.

CityWide's method is non-invasive and requires only a couple of small pits to gain access to the damaged pipes below ground. Using the broken sewer line as our guide, our hydraulic pipe-bursting machinery pulls full-sized, seamless replacement pipe through the old pipe’s path while breaking up the old damaged pipe in the process.

Once the job is completed, the entrance and exit pits can be quickly refilled, leaving little or no evidence of activity. The new heavy-duty polyethylene pipe we use has a life expectancy of up to one hundred years. And since the pipe is seamless, it is impervious to leaks or root intrusion.
